Hightech Information System Limited has officially announced a new video card belonging to the family of HD 6000 IceQ. This is the HIS 6970 IceQ 2GB GDDR5 card, available in Turbo and "Standard", characterized by a blue-colored PCB and a custom cooling system which according to the manufacturer in Hong Kong can dramatically lower temperature and noise of operation compared to the reference cooler developed by AMD.
The HIS solution always occupies two slots on the motherboard but is distinguished by a greater lateral dimensions due to the position "raised" the cooling fan. A clear plastic lens directs the fresh air sucked by the fan directly to the heatsink on the VRM area.
Four copper heatpipes help to speed up the transfer of heat from the GPU to the fins over Cayman. HIS 6970 IceQ Turbo The model operates with a frequency of factory overclocked to 900/5600MHz (GPU / Mem), while the HIS IceQ 6970 "Standard" travels with the reference clock of 880/5500MHz.
