Seagate has announced reaching the million mark record "hybrid" Momentus XT delivered. In 2.5-inch hybrid drive that was launched in May 2010. The Momentus XT includes a reminder a standard hard drive (with a capacity of 250 GB, 320 GB or 500 GB depending on the version) operating at 7200 RPM, 32 MB buffer memory and 4 GB of NAND flash SLC.
This combination theoretically improve the startup time of the computer and speed up the loading of applications, while providing a decent storage capacity at a rate lower than that of an equivalent capacity SSD. If we are to believe a study published by the institute IDC, hybrid discs should be included in a quarter of computers sold in 2015.
For its part, Seagate is already preparing the launch of a new generation of hybrid discs that should appear by the end of the year.
