Eink of "lively" for reading lights

At the MWC, and pending a more comprehensive point on ARM chips, we've seen prototypes of screens eink (electronic ink) which - for once - came alive. Indeed, Freescale offers ARM SoC with integrated controller eink (the MX508 i) that accelerates quite dramatically the frequency of animation. Even if it's still quite slow, with up to 8 fps is more than the usual eink screens, which leveled off to an image every one to two seconds.

It's quite interesting to scroll through the text and improve reading comfort by reducing the loading time of pages, which can easily reach 5 to 6 seconds when there are pictures. We also saw a screen eink color, which was much less convincing. It actually falls into the trap of Mirasol, with a fairly dull and metallic shades.

It's interesting in terms of consumption, very low, but the video quality falls short of conventional LCDs. Note that the picture makes a relatively low quality of the screen. It is an expected trend, but it will be a priori wait a few generations before actually replace LCDs in reading lights colors.
