Intel launches its concept of ultrafine Ultrabook (tm)

Three years after its release, the MacBook Air is still spreading. And Intel has understood with his "ultrabook. It comes a little model "Culver" and the idea is to capitalize on the name, as then with the word "netbook", already put forward by Intel. On the concept, Ultrabooks are not new: the thin and light ultraportable existed for years and a top model like the Vaio X505 in 2004 could fall within the range.

Intel, which hopes that 40% of laptops will be Ultrabook (tm) in 2012, gives a broad definition of voluntary machines: less than 2 cm thick, an Intel - Atom, Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge - and a price below $ 1 000. The MacBook Air, run by chip Core 2 Duo is not (yet) an Ultrabook ... Still, Intel is an interesting market and if the name becomes known to the general public, we may see a "Centrino effect" and a slowdown in sales of models based on AMD ...

The Asus UX21, clone of the MacBook Air (and faster) recently announced, is a typical example of Ultrabook according to Intel.
