The processor market rose

If one believes the figures published by the institute IDC, the market for microprocessors would have risen 1.6% between the last quarter of 2010 and first quarter 2011. In one year, growth was 7.4%. Intel of course remains on the top spot with 80.8% market share. It is followed by AMD and 18.9%, followed by VIA which allows itself to 0.2% market share.

On this first quarter of 2011, Intel has consolidated its position in the segment of mobile processors, with 86.36% market share, against 18.9% for AMD. Segments on "desktop" and processors for servers and workstations, the market shares of the giant, however, are slightly down, at respectively 72.4% and 93.9% (27.4% and 6.1% for AMD).

For the full year, IDC has finally raised its growth forecast from 10.1% to 10.3%.
