Logitech launches webcam for TVs

Logitech has launched the "LogitechTV Cam for Skype", dedicated to a webcam video conferencing software Skype. Originality of the webcam? It is designed to operate with televisions connected to Panasonic. The Viera range 2011 are indeed compatible with Skype and the Logitech camera - which plugs into USB - is able to work with the 720p models.

TV Cam is very similar to C910 but is more expensive sold: $ 150 against $ 100. The definition is announced of 1280 x 720, with a 5x digital zoom and - good news - autofocus. It features two directional microphones to improve sound quality and requires an Internet connection can upload to 1 Mbps, which limits the number of people who can work in 720p.

Presumably if the upload throughput is lower, it is possible to work in 640 x 480. In practice, given the number of devices that can communicate via Skype, it's pretty expensive and not so practical. Note that the camera is also compatible with Google TV box from Logitech, the Journal.
