Blu-ray for 3D Radeon HD 5000

Interestingly, AMD clearly fails in its communication, the 5000 cards are compatible with Blu-ray 3D. At the launch of the 6000 family, the support for Blu-ray 3D was put forward by the company. But in practice, it is not necessary to use a map of "new generation" to read a Blu-ray 3D map of the 5000 family is enough, and it says AMD.

Concretely, the only thing really needed to play a Blu-ray compatible 3D card AMD HD3D and - obviously - a device compatible with 3D viewing, be it a television, monitor or projector. In fact, HD3D requires only a compatible HDMI 1.4a output, which sends the synchronization information and the type of feed used 3D.

And maps of the 5000 family are fully compatible with this version of the standard. In fact, AMD recommends a map of the 6000 series for one reason: the majority of cards are compatible UVD3, the latest version of the decoding engine from AMD. UVD3 And, unlike version 2 used on the Radeon 5000, supports the decoding of the codec MPEG-4/MVC.

The MVC is an improvement of H.264 (AVC), which allows two versions of an image (3D) and that obviously requires a bit more power for decoding. On a Radeon 5000 or a Radeon 6700 - Radeon 5700 which is a famous - is the processor that will do the decoding, while the Radeon 6000 can do physically.

Remember that NVIDIA technology with its 3Dvision, offers playback of Blu-ray on any 3D card from the GeForce 8800 but a recent map and HDMI 1.4 is required to play a Blu-ray 3D on a 3D TV .
