The manufacturer Western Digital is preparing the market entry of a new version of its VelociRaptor 150 GB and 300 GB Equipped with a 6 Gbps SATA interface and equipped with 32 MB cache, these new models are baptized and WD1500HLHX WD3000HLHX. They still work at 10 000 rpm, are offered in 3.5-inch (hard drives themselves are 2.5 inches, but they are integrated into a rack mount format 3.5 inch) display an access time of 3 ms.
As for performance, the VelociRaptor SATA 6 Gbps can reach speeds of around 126 Mb / s. Guaranteed five years, these models have finally an MTBF of 1.4 million hours. The VelociRaptor 150 GB and 300 GB SATA 6 Gbps are currently posted for preorder.
