400 million licenses of Windows 7 in the wild

Steve Ballmer announced at the presentation he gave at the Worldwide Partner Conference that Microsoft had sold 400 million licenses of Windows 7 and Office 2010 licenses 100 million. These are impressive results that reflect strong sales. While society is often criticized for his absence on the market shelves and remains in the shadow of Apple media since its market capitalization peaked, Redmond bombarded the press of numbers and said that Windows 7 is the operating system that has sold best in the history of computing.

It is true that the growth of Windows 7 continues to accelerate. In June 2010, eight months after its release, Microsoft claimed to have sold 150 million licenses of Windows 7. Four months later, it reached 240 million. Last April, the operating system over 10% market share. The announcement also comes at the eve of the release of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion who has spoken highly of him and the price of 25 € for the update has surprised many.

Microsoft takes the reins so to remind the media that dominates the market. However, if the dominance of Microsoft on computers is a fact, the publisher could not hide its problems on the emerging market for mobile platforms. Steve Ballmer has admitted that sales of Windows licenses Phone 7 were disappointing, but he sought reassurance by ensuring that the future was optimistic.
