The father of the Compact Disc has left us

Norio Ohga, former CEO of Sony (1982-1995), died last Saturday at the age of 81. If his name does not say anything maybe some of you, know that it is (in part) to this man that we owe the famous definition of the format of Compact Disc. Norio Ohga has also made history by buying the Sony label, CBS Records and then renamed it Sony Music Entertainment, overseeing the acquisition of Columbia Pictures movie studios or by participating in the launch of the PlayStation.

The former CEO and wanted this disc diameter of 120 mm is capable of storing enough data to be able to hold the Ninth Symphony of Beethoven. So this man, fond of classical music and baritone, which must be the standard duration of 74 minutes (650 MB data) of our CD. The first Compact Disc was launched in 1982 in partnership with Philips.
