DisplayPort and Thunderbolt have the wind at your back

The Display Port becoming increasingly popular with an increase in shipments of DisplayPort-compatible 150% from one year to another. ISuppli analysts predict that this triple-digit growth expected to continue for another two years. The Thunderbolt also seems to take this evolution. The world goes HD, which means that DisplayPort and HDMI are becoming the default choice for manufacturers.

With the programmed death of the VGA 2015 and the willingness of manufacturers to offer this port as standard, iSuppli estimates that the number of compatible products delivered should reach 500 million by 2014. This phenomenon is visible on all graphics products. Thus, the inclusion of a DisplayPort port on graphics cards has doubled this year.

In 2016, the interface should be present on 90% of computers sold. The winner of this phenomenon is the Thunderbolt, which we recall (see "Thunderbolt: 10 gigabit / s, 10 W, Light Peak"), uses a DisplayPort connector to get an audio, video and data passing on a PCI-Express. With the democratization of DisplayPort ports in our equipment, the Thunderbolt is expected by the analysis, gain popularity.

If it is currently restricted to a niche market, its features might encourage brands of audio and video do not.
