Roxio offers a new accessory that will appeal to players: an acquisition device designed for gaming consoles Roxio The Game Capture is a box which sits between the console and the screen and can record - on video or photos - anything that happens on screen. Sold $ 100, it will allow anyone to post their exploits on the Internet.
The box has some technical limitations and capture analog video: use a cable YUV (component) and the definition of video is limited to 480p. If the Xbox 360 was available with the YUV cable in some cases this is not the case with the PlayStation 3 and Wii, with which the cables are optional.
The box sits between the console and the TV and connects to a PC via a USB cable. Roxio says that a machine equipped with a dual core processor at 1.8 GHz is sufficient for the Capture Game, with the possibility to use the following containers (without indicating the codec used): AVI, MOV, WMV, MP4 and DivX.
Finally, the product should appeal to some players and video game testers, but the obligation to use the YUV is a big disincentive for fans of high definition, except of course for those who like the Wii ...
