The thin mini-ITX Intel Mini-ITX thins

Intel took the opportunity at Computex to formalize its thin mini-ITX format motherboard designed for desktop PCs All-in-one PCs and lounge, as the site of the smelter. It has the same dimensions as the classic mini-ITX, 170 mm long by 170 mm wide. The inputs and outputs are still a maximum height of 25 mm, 44 mm against the old standard.

It appears for now that only the Intel booth at Computex has thin mini-ITX boards. It also showed all systems-in-one with the new motherboard. According to the features highlighted by the founder, the processor must not have a TDP over 65W, the card must also support the SODIMM, a mini PCI-Express port and external power.

In short, this is similar to a mini-ITX standard. The cooling system is also standardized. A block of copper is connected to an aluminum heat sink with heat pipes. A fan cools the fins. The two are placed next to the card. Maps demonstrations incorporated all chipset H61. Latest i5-2405 or Core i3-2105 represent interesting configurations with their HD 3000 graphics circuitry and a TDP of 65 W (see "Pentium at Sandy Bridge are finally here").

It is also possible to envisage a fanless system using the Pentium G620T Sandy Bridge recently announced that the TDP is only 35 W. The first cards are expected during the last quarter of this year. Intel has released an updated white paper mini-ITX to add the characteristics of thin mini-ITX.
