A newcomer to the Z-Wave

The Z-Wave, a technology widely used in home automation, has a problem: its price. One reason is simple: even if many devices are compatible with this radio technology, there is only one chip supplier, Sigma Designs. But that will change with the arrival of Mitsumi in this market. The interest is twofold: first, a competitor should (perhaps) help to reduce the price of chips and other manufacturers could (finally) take Z-Wave.

Indeed, many leading manufacturers refuse to use technology until at least two manufacturers do not offer compatible components, for logistical reasons and to avoid shortages. The Z-Wave, for those unfamiliar with this technology, is a data transmission technology that works in the 900 MHz band.

Intended for home automation, to connect various devices to each other but also to universal remotes (Logitech as some models), the Z-Wave is quite slow (40 kilobits per second), but consumes very little and can create networks of devices . The technology is in direct competition with Zigbee, another radio technology with low consumption.
