iPad and Japan are on the lips of Apple

Apple announced its financial results for its second fiscal quarter ended March 26 and took the opportunity to explain the long-term impact that should have the Japanese earthquake last month. Again, the company beat its own record with a turnover of 24.67 billion dollars (approx. 17 billion) and earnings of $ 5.99 billion (about 4 billion euros), +83% and +28% respectively over the same period last year.

The statement provided by Apple shows that it sold 3.76 million Macs (+28% from last year), 18.65 million iPhone (+113%), 9.02 million iPod (-17%) and 4.69 million iPad. It does not change the latter value, because the first iPad was released April 3, 2010, after the closure of accounts for the first quarter.

Apple also promised that 13 countries would receive new iPad next week, without specifying which ones. Apple also took the opportunity to explain that the financial results for its second fiscal quarter will not be affected by the earthquake in Japan, but sales of its third quarter should acknowledge a decline of $ 200 million (approx .

140 million euros). He took the opportunity to salute the resilience of its Japanese partner and says he will continue working with them, despite the problems they encounter. The firm does not anticipate any disruption of components, but says the situation remains fragile at the moment.

That's why Apple has also refused to make predictions beyond the third quarter. As explained in the firm, the Japanese book of LCDs, optical drives, the NAND, DRAM, and raw materials needed to manufacture many products. The Japanese partners have therefore Apple managed to maintain a minimum delivery to avoid disrupting production lines, but it will still take another quarter or two before things return to normal.
