Intel plans to unveil 3-class-E Sandy Bridge processors

Failing that Intel officially declare the details on which processors Sandy Bridge-E, thanks to a leaked slide we can see the thoughts of the company for its new top-end platform, the socket 2011 (X79 chipset). In the slide above we can see the 3 kinds of processors that Intel intends to establish, 1 for the Extreme range and 2 for the Premium range: - Extreme: Top of the range, with 6 cores at 3.3 GHz, 15MB L3 cache and fully unlocked to overclock.

- Premium P2: high-end, 6-core, 3.2 GHz, 12MB L3 cache and fully unlocked for overclocking. - Premium P1: Upper-middle range, 4 cores at 3.6 GHz, 10MB L3 cache and overclock partially blocked. The output frequency will be that, but the Intel will escalate. The most obvious difference between the 2 classes of 6-core processors and Extreme Premium P2 is the amount of L3 cache, 15MB to 12MB for the first and second.

However, the most important is the difference between blocking overclocking, although in both states that are completely unlocked, Extreme will actually unlocked BCLK both as a multiplier, while the P2 only premium multiplier. It is quite possible that Intel continues with the nomenclature used in current use Bridge and Sandy for Sandy Bridge K-E termination for processors in the premium category P2.

One level below are the P1 Premium, which will overclock level similar to the existing Sandy Bridge processors (Core i7 i5 and socket under 1555). This would not be more important not because the platform under the socket 2011 is designed for enthusiasts, who probably do not like the idea of adopting a new platform with bloqueadospara processors overclock, as always, be a matter of price and the difference ranges there between P1 and P2.

Returning to the slide, you can extract more information on Intel's immediate intentions, such as the launch of the normal version (not Extreme) Core i7 processor 980 for 1366 on a platform within 2 months. For the third quarter of this year Intel will release another Extreme processor for the platform, the Core i7 995X and the i7 990.

At this time Intel will release a Core i7 processor than 2600K and one 2500K i5 above, both socket 1555. And in the last quarter of the famous Sandy Bridge "E, along with the chipsetX79 (socket 2011), the 3 kinds of processors mentioned above. Source: Xfastest
