New iMac: all quad-core, and Thunderbolt

The rumors had not deceived, Apple has revamped its line of iMac today. The all-in-One emblematic keep the same shell, but it conceals real news. The first is the arrival of Sandy Bridge Intel quad core on all models, while the first dual core prices were still above. Apple chose i5 standard (2.5 GHz, 2.7 GHz or 3.1 GHz), and leaves the option of Core i7 (2.8 GHz or 3.4 GHz), the main difference between Both ranges are, remember, the presence of HyperThreading.

Apple made a brief allusion to the engine decoding and encoding video integrated with these CPUs in its press release, a sign perhaps of a future home use by an application. The new iMac line is classic features include more powerful graphics cards: the iMac 21.5 "swap their Radeon HD 4670 or Radeon 5670 for the 6570M or 6770M and iMac 27" Radeon HD5670 or their Radeon 5750 to 6770M or 6970M .

Minimum graphics memory increases from 256 MB to 512 MB on the range. The 6970M can even get 2 GB of GDDR5 optional. There is simply no more powerful in the range of mobile GPUs from AMD ... but the desktop GPUs are still much higher. The new iMac is also developing port Thunderbolt, like the recent MacBook Pro.

IMac 21.5 "receive port iMac 27" are two. Each port allows you to chain up to 6 devices and screen. In other words, we can finally make the tri-screen on an iMac. Apple has also democratized the SSD option: it is now also available on the iMac 21.5 ". Skip to the standard configuration with a single 1 TB hard drive at a high-end configuration with a 256 GB SSD hard drive more 1TB costs 600 €.

We conclude by noting that prices were slightly melted (thank you falling dollar): the two models 21.5 "lose 50 €, as the first 27", while the largest model loses 100 €, € to 1899. They are available immediately.
