A secondary display on the iPhone

Apple has filed a patent application for technology that would use the edges of the iPhone as a secondary display. The idea is strange and it would be interesting to see if the concept is both in reality only on paper. According to Apple, the main screen does not move. There is therefore no need to recode applications to take advantage of a new resolution or make enlargements unsightly.

The contours would display information and be tactile. It could therefore serve as context menus. Developers therefore have a larger area and can add menus and enjoy a larger screen more easily. A patent does not mean however that the technology he describes is necessarily marketed in the near future.

It reflects only the work of research and development divisions of Apple.
