Acer wants to sell less but better

After the announcement of the sudden resignation of CEO of Acer, a replacement spoke to clarify what the Taiwanese manufacturer's strategy in the coming months. Acer aims to break the mold, will not try to sell larger volumes but will try to increase its margins. The race for sales volume supposed to cut back on costs and tariffs in order to steal market share to HP or Dell.

But the difficult economic environment and the erosion of sales of netbook in favor of those of tablets made of Acer's position increasingly difficult. The new CEO will have to set a new course towards products with higher margins comfortable. And contrary to what we believed guess in yesterday's press release, Acer intends to accelerate its transition to mobile products including tablets.

The CFO of Acer, Tu Shih-min told our colleagues at Bloomberg "There is a consensus within the Board on the fact that the tablets are the way forward".
