A standard for 3D glasses

The CEA (Consumer Electronics Association) will attempt to standardize shutter glasses in order to facilitate the democratization of 3D stereoscopic displays. Televisions with a depth effect today require the use of shutter glasses that will synchronize the image with the user's eyes so he could enjoy the stereo.

Now we have reached an absurd situation. Indeed, the technologies are very similar if not identical, between the manufacturers who make unnecessary changes to ensure that only their glasses are compatible with their systems. Specifically, they want you to buy their product. An example of this is that it is possible to wear the 3D glasses Panasonic backwards to make them compatible with Samsung TV (see "From the absurdity of active 3D glasses).

It appears that the proceedings begin by the CEA is the result of an awareness of market participants who realized that the current situation that did stop the democratization of stereoscopy. A committee was formed. It will first receive the proposed standards. It will then offer a foundation that will unify the market.
