New Intel Atom netbook and nettop arriving at end of year

Intel will be able to offer a viable alternative to the current AMD Brazos, according to an internal document revealed only towards the end of this year when they get the new Atom CPU that will realize the Cedarview platforms Cedar Trail Netbook and nettop. The new solutions for ultra low-cost computer giant's Santa Clara introduce several innovations in terms of features and performance improvements in order to compete on equal terms with the excellent platform of rival AMD.

Cedarview is a system-on-chip that includes a new core Atom-based CPU and a graphics chip with support for decoding high-definition content such as those found on Blu-ray. Lacks the means to be used as a GPGPU platform as the graphics core is only compatible with DirectX 10.1. Cedarview will be able to operate at higher frequencies, will support DDR3 memory and digital interfaces for video connections and will be built in 32nm, thus ensuring consumption lower than the current Atom CPU.

The new CPU will still be compatible with the chip NM10, making life easier for system builders.
