3D transistors Intel announces 22nm chips.

The microprocessor giant Intel announced the creation of 3D transistors called Tri-Gate, the new technique debuted its next generation of processors on 22nm Ivy Bridge. According to Intel, these new 3D transistors manufactured in 22nm delivered up to 37% more performance with a low voltage when compared with transistors "flat" manufactured in 32nm, plus these new 3D transistors consume half the energy without affecting performance.

One of the most remarkable features is that these new 3D transistors have gates at three of its four sides, which allows them to have better control of current flow in the same allowing a change happening faster (ON) to off (OFF). As mentioned before, these new transistors arrive with the next processor Ivy Bridge (22nm) to begin manufacturing in the second half of the year, in 2013 came the first chip manufactured in 14nm, and by 2015 is expected to reach the 10nm process.
