Wacom announces a stylus for touch pads

On the touch pads, a defect is frequently ascended the lack of stylus. It is generally related to the technology used: capacitive screens placed in front of the stage with the iPhone and now the iPad, are not suited to this type of devices. To simplify, capacitive screens are in the form of a fine grid or passes a small current.

When you spend a finger on the grid in question, the conductivity of the latter changes the charge at a point x and it is therefore possible to determine the position of the finger. The operation involves two things: a minimum contact area (6 mm in general) and the use of a conductive component.

Wacom graphics tablets specialist, should launch its "Bamboo Stylus" in May. This device does not use the conventional technology of Wacom pens, which are electromagnetic and require a shelf adapted, but adapt to capacitive technologies. The company has good expertise in the field of the tip pens and 6 mm seems to use the metal covered with a silky texture to provide a proper slip.

In addition, Android applications and adapted to the device should iOS out. The stylus 20 grams to 12 cm should not offer the precision of an Intuos tablet, but is a priori sufficient for quick sketches. Is the price, which is high (Wacom required): about 25 pounds, or about 30 €.
