iFixit opens the MacBook Pro

The latest 15-inch MacBook Pro that was announced yesterday just been boned by iFixit who took the opportunity to give an overview of the chips that make up the machine. The first thing you notice is the absence of screws pentalobulaires which are intended to discourage or prevent the opening of the machine by the user.

Found on the iPhone, iPad and the latest MacBook Air (see "new screws" evil "of the iPhone). The reason is simple, unlike the above products, Apple believes that consumers can change the RAM and hard drive of their MacBook Pro. For more information on the new configurations, we invite you to read our news "Apple's new MacBook Pro.

So we return directly to the heart of the subject to talk about the battery. Curiously, it has not changed one bit. She still has a capacity of 77.5 Wh and Apple has reduced the autonomy that goes from 8-9 hours to 7 hours. The firm is likely to reflect a more realistic. The Broadcom BCM4331 wireless module now has four antennas instead of three.

We also note the presence of two fans and a layer very (too?) Thick thermal paste on the GPU and CPU. Finally, there are two heat sinks, one for the chip responsible for switching between the IGP to the GPU and vice versa, the second for the Intel controller Thunderbolt L051NB32 EFL. Apple uses an Intel chipset BD82HM65 PCH released at the same time as Sandy Bridge.

It has a TDP of 3.9 V and can handle 8-port PCI-Express, 12 USB ports and 6 SATA ports. This is actually a variation of the Intel mobile chipset HM65Le open model contained a graphics chip AMD Radeon HD 6490M, 256 MB of GDDR5 by Samsung. The audio controller is a Cirrus 4206ACNZ and found a USB hub Lattice Semiconductor LFXP2-5E.
