IOGEAR has announced a new USB adapter that has the good sense to provide support for HDMI with sound, which is rarely the case with this type of device. The GUC2025H is compatible with USB 2.0 and uses DisplayLink technology, as many graphics cards USB. The card is able to work at 1080p and transmits audio via an integrated USB sound card.
Sold $ 100, the card has some limitations: IOGEAR does not indicate whether it is HDCP compliant - which is a good indication as to suppose that it is not compatible - and the performances are limited by the processor. It is effective for playing video with a recent CPU, but the games are forgotten.
Like all solutions DisplayLink, it is possible to connect multiple cards in parallel, with a limit of six.
