An external box "open" SATA 6Gbps

SilverStone recently introduced to the market's SD01, an "external box open" hard drive, we should rather call it "hard drive pad." Compatible with SATA and SAS formats 3.5 and 2.5 inches, the SD01 is equipped with dual SAS interfaces-lane and eSATA 6 Gbps. The +12 V supply is in turn provided by a single cable Molex / outlet owner.

Apacer: 750 GB external 2.5 "USB 3.0

The manufacturer Apacer announced the launch of a new external hard drive, the AC230. Available in capacities of 500 GB, 640 GB and 750 GB, hard disk 2.5-inch display sizes of 124 x 80 x 14 mm and has a USB 3.0 interface, of course backward compatible with USB 2.0. A red LED next to the USB connector to charge elsewhere indicate, via a color code, the type of connection (red for the USB 2.0, blue for the USB 3.0).

External hardware RAID in Sharkoon

The manufacturer Sharkoon has launched two external enclosures, 2-Bay RAID Box and 5-Bay RAID Box. The most perceptive of you have probably already guessed, this is accepting cases two or five hard drives configured in RAID. The 2-Bay RAID Box can therefore accommodate two SATA hard drives in 3.5 inch format, that can be configured as RAID 0 or 1 (and JBOD).

Equipped with a single USB 3.0, external case has also a fan of 70 mm. This model is available at a price of 88 euros. For his part, 5-Bay RAID Box accepts five SATA hard drives, still at 3.5 inch format. They can be configured in RAID 0, 1 / 10, 3 or 5, as well as JBOD. Interface USB 3.0 and eSATA are available, while two 60 mm fans to cool the load discs.

Western Digital: 6 TB of external storage

The manufacturer Western Digital has announced the launch of a new version of its external storage solution My Book Studio Edition II. Aimed at professionals, external hard drive is now available in 6 TB through the use of two hard drives 3 TB each, configurable as RAID. Showing the dimensions of 166 x 154 x 98 mm and weighs 2.63 kilograms, this external hard drive features USB 2.0 connectors (but not 3.0), FireWire 400/800 and eSATA.
