It's been a year since Microsoft introduced Windows 7 Phone at the MIX conference 2010. A year later, while sales of Windows phone does not seem bright, the publisher wants to show that its mobile OS has a long-term future and takes stock of its adoption by developers. According to Microsoft, the software development kit for Windows 7 Phone has been downloaded 1.5 million times and 36,000 developers have registered on AppHub.
Microsoft stresses that 11,500 real quality applications are available on the Live Marketplace, including 7,500 fee. Is small compared to the numbers announced by Apple AppStore or the Android Marketplace, but according to Microsoft they are artificially inflated: Apple and Google with a proposed application in different languages counts as many different apps, Apple and Google applications that are tolerated only outline wallpapers, Apple can not offer a trial version of its application developers must create versions "lite" duplicate etc..
Finally, and this is perhaps the most encouraging statistics for Microsoft, a Windows Phone downloads an average of 12 applications per month and 1200 new developers on AppHub register each week.
