IPhone wants to patent the 3D photo

Apple has filed a patent application covering the use of multiple photo sensors to take pictures in 3D stereoscopic be viewed on the screen. Cupertino does not seem to immunize against fever 3D running the streets. It is amazing to see this application so that other companies are already marketing this kind of solution long ago.

This is not the first time this has happened. The control system of patents is in serious trouble. In this case, Apple is playing on a technicality. Apple believes that its technology is still new, since the superimposition of images is done through a calculation determined by measurements taken during the image capture.

It believes that its competitors use different algorithms and less efficient. The goal is to reduce inconsistencies and other artifacts for a sharper picture and more realistic. The system could also take videos. This patent is interesting because it shows that Apple still thinks to 3D (see "From 3D without glasses at Apple?").

Apple had already filed similar patents in 2008 and 2009 and has already shown he was thinking of a 3D interface for Mac OS X. Again, we note that companies like Apple or IBM file thousands of patents each year and that the technologies they describe are not always marketed.
