Seasonic preparing 11 new power supplies

Next fall may be a busy season for the manufacturer Seasonic. It plans to take to enlarge its catalog of power by launching several new models in its range and M12II X Series, and two new lines (Platinum Series and G). Three new power supply modular M12II, a respective power of 650W, 750W and 850W, and should make their appearance in October.

In November, they will be G Series power supplies of 350W, 450W, 550W and 650W that will emerge. Enermax: the power supply at 1.5 kilowatts MaxRevo

Enermax has added two new models of power supplies to its catalog: the 1350W and 1500W MaxRevo. A version of 1200W "only" should also be provided by the manufacturer. Intended, by Enermax, the configurations 'gamers' high-end, these power supplies - announced earlier this month at CeBIT - are 80Plus certified Gold and show a maximum efficiency of 94%.

Fully modular power supplies have two six +12 V rails and multiple safeguards against surges and short circuits. 13.9 cm fan operating at a speed between 900 and 2000 rpm is responsible for his side to cool the components.

The first power supply 500 Watt 80 Plus Platinum passive

Century Japan will be the first to commercialize the first power supply 500 W in the world certified 80 Plus Platinum fanless, according AkihabaraNews. This is the SF-500P14FG made by Super Flower. It will be sold at 200 € in Japan initially, Century does not provide that out of 50 copies at launch. It should also sell more next August.

80 Plus Platinum label certifies that the performance of the power supply does not fall below 90% to 20% load, 94% to 50% load and 91% to 100%., Which is great. We meet more often 80 Plus Gold certification, which requires a minimum return of 88%. The Super Flower design was announced last February.

Antec: a green power supply of 750 watts

The manufacturer Antec has announced the arrival on the market EarthWatts EA-750 Green, a power which - as its name might rightly assume - shows a continuous power of 750 watts. 80Plus certified Bronze (maximum efficiency 88%), this power supply is also certified SLI and CrossFireX. The Antec EarthWatts EA-750 Green respects the ATX12V v2.3 and has an active PFC.

Four +12 V rails are available, all components being cooled by a fan of 135 mm. Note also the presence of safeguards against surges, short circuits and overheating. THE MTBF meanwhile reached 100 000 hours. Three year warranty, the EarthWatts EA-750 Green is available at a recommended retail price of 129.95 dollars.

Corsair announces the expansion of their Professional Series Power Supply

Corsair has announced it is expanding its range of high-power performance with the addition of models and HX1050 Series Professional Series Professional Gold X650. The Professional Series HX1050 provides 1050W of continuous power, and joins her sisters HX1000, HX850, HX750 and HX650 in the Professional Series.

This new source has 80Plus Silver certification, with an efficiency of 88% to 50% load. The Professional Series Gold ZX650 provides 650W of continuous power, and joins the AX750, AX850 and AX1200 in the font family maximum performance Professional Series Gold. Seasonic: "The 80 Plus Bronze is dead"

At Computex, Seasonic has introduced a new line of power supplies certified 80 Plus Gold, the G series. This range starts with a 350 W model to be marketed at about 60 €. Echoing the design of the M12, the G Series are characterized by a breakdown of "hybrid": the fan remains off until the power supplied by the diet is less than 90 W.

Beyond that, the fan starts and fits conventionally speed according to temperature. This hybrid mode is also present on the P-series Seasonic. P as Platinum, 80 Platinum Plus. This very demanding standard guarantees a return of at least 90%. Upscale modular Seasonic P regain the design of the current X and start with a block of 860 W.

Corsair updated its range of sources Builder Series

Corsair has announced that its range of power supplies Builder Series has been updated with new V2 CX models. The CX Series Builder V2 is the successor to the current family of power supplies CX, offering 80Plus certification and ERP (European Commission Energy Related Product), ensuring efficiency and low consumption in standby.

These certifications have been enhanced in the new CX Series V2, adding three-year warranty, one year older than the current CX family. Family Builder V2 CX Series are designed for midrange computers, providing good value and low noise at affordable prices. "The power Builder CX Series have been an integral part of the business of power supplies from Corsair, Corsair offering quality systems of low and mid ranges at an affordable price." Said Ruben Mookerjee, VP and General Manager components Corsair.

At a 1200W PSU Club 3D

The manufacturer Club 3D today announced the launch of the CSP-X1200CS, 80Plus Silver certified power of a 1200W power up. Standards-compliant ATX 12V v2.3 and EPS 12V v2.92, this power supply shows a maximum efficiency of 88%. With an active PFC, it has four +12 V rails and is obviously designed for multi-GPU configurations.

This power supply is also equipped with a 135 mm fan and enjoys protection against overvoltage, undervoltage and short circuit. Club 3D has unfortunately not yet indicated the price and availability date of the CSP-X1200CS.

Corsair: the alims Builder CX-cons attack

The manufacturer Corsair has announced the launch of the second generation of power supplies Builder CX Series. Logically baptized Builder CX Series V2, the 80Plus certified power supplies are available in powers from 430W, 500W and 600W. These modular power supply not comply with the ATX12V v2.3 and enjoy an active PFC.

A MEMS harvest energy from our movement

Researchers at the University of Michigan say they have developed the first MEMS piezoelectric capable of generating ten times more energy than traditional systems. Specifically, a MEMS size of a U.S. cent would be enough to power an implanted medical device or wireless sensors on a car. The set has a volume of only 27 mm 3, but little harvest of 200 microwatts of energy from a vibration of 1.5 g.

Gigabyte launches its alims PoweRock EX

Gigabyte has announced the launch of its power PoweRock EX models 80Plus certified and available in powers from 300W, 350W, 400W, 450W and 500W. Complying with the standard ATX 12V V2.0, these supplies have various protections against overvoltage and under. They have a 120mm fan and feature a MTBF of 100,000 hours.

Models of 400W or less have a single +12 V rail while the 450 and 500W versions have two of them. Unfortunately the manufacturer has not yet indicated the price and availability date of these new power supplies.

The chargers are miniaturized induction

Texas Instruments has just introduced a new charger induction place in the terminal to load. From a size 80% smaller than the old version, it allows to consider integrating this technology into products that are smaller and thinner. It still offers 5 watts of power, as the module before and remains suitable for phones, media players and other mobile devices of this kind.

The receiver is compatible with standard Qi and should work with existing chargers, such as those sold by Energizer. The new module meets the bq51013 name and has a yield of 93%, which means, according to Texas Instruments, the cooldown is the same as a wired charger. The module is sold at $ 3.50 in quantities of 1,000 units, but no manufacturer has yet announced plans to use it.

New batteries for servers arrive

Sony has announced that it will market the battery using a cathode in lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) at the end of the month. The first copies of tests have been sent a year ago (see "A battery of 1.2 kWh by Sony") and the Japanese is now ready to put its product on the market. The firm did not give a price but it is contemplated that a kilowatt-hour will be priced around € 2500.

The batteries are designed for data centers, workstations and mobile homes who want to enjoy an alternative source of electricity in case of power failure. The modules used (photo cons) have a capacity of 1.2 kWh. You can customize the system by combining several of them that can be connected in series or in parallel to increase power or autonomy of the whole.

Manufacturer A-Data just announced a new range of food, BN Series. Available in capacities of 400W, 450W, 500W and 550W, these power supplies are certified 80Plus Bronze and display an efficiency up to 85%. These alims otherwise complies with the Energy Star standard ATX 12V v2.3 and 5.0. Enjoying an active PFC, the power supplies have two +12 V rails and a 120mm fan.

MTBF reaches for his 100,000 hours. Already available for pre-order, alims BN 400W, 450W and 500W are displayed for 60 euros, 63 euros and 66 euros.

Batteries that charge in 2 minutes

Researchers have found a way to accelerate battery charging, and interesting proportions: about 2 minutes to charge a lithium ion battery to 90%. The principle is simple: reduce the distance for the electrons. Overall, the loading rate is related to distance, and time increases exponentially with distance.

The new structure, which uses tiny polystyrene spheres (1.8 microns) coated nickel cathode and anode to approach, therefore serves to reduce the distance for the electrons. Earnings are sensitive to lithium ion batteries, with a 90% load in less than two minutes and a loading of 75% in 1 minute.

Reaching only 12 V power supplies?

Interestingly, the new generation of Intel chipsets could help simplify power. Currently, a PC power supply provides three voltages: 3.3 V, 5 V and 12 V (-5 V and sometimes for old ISA cards). Professional for chipsets with Sandy Bridge, we could move to a single voltage: 12 V. Indeed, in a typical PC, a lot of needs is on this tension and components that require a voltage of 5 V or 3.3 V are rare.
