While Intel launched earlier this week its Xeon-based E3 Sandy Bridge architecture, the chipmaker has logically also introduced new chipsets to accompany such CPU. Derived from P67 Express "Cougar Point, the C202, C204 and C206 are relatively similar, some differences between these models ranging in terms of data protection, security features, capabilities in terms of virtualization, or the energy management.
These chipsets support SATA 6 Gbps, PCI-Express 2.0 and AMT 7.0 technology, vPro, and SLI. We note in passing that Asus offers already on Japanese soil motherboard chipset equipped with a C204 and a LGA-1155: the P8B-E/4L. Of course for the professional market, this card supports up to 32 mothers go to DDR3-1333 ECC and has two PCI-Express x16, one PCI-Express 8x, three PCI slots and 14 SATA ports.
There are also five Gigabit Ethernet ports, no less, all for the modest sum of 315 euros ...
